Tourism boomed in Indonesia last year, and the numbers prove this as well. As per the data shared by the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency, the country welcomed more than 12 million international visitors in 2024. As you can guess, Bali was the most visited tourist destination in the country and witnessed more than 6.3 million visitors.
Bali Sees Record 6.3 Million Visitors In 2024
It seems like Indonesia witnessed its busiest year for tourism in 2024. According to The Bali Sun, the total number of foreign tourist visits in the country reached 12.66 million from January to November 2024. This is the highest number recorded in the last five years and almost 20.7% more, as compared to the same period in 2023.
Not so surprisingly, Bali remained the most in-demand destination in the country. It hosted 6.3 million international tourists in 2024, a 19.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023. In fact, it even exceeded its pre-pandemic visitor numbers. It is to be noted that the December 30-31 arrivals have not been counted in these numbers.
Interestingly, Bali fared quite well in its tourism targets for 2024. As per reports, Bali had set a target to welcome at least 5.5 million international arrivals, 6 million being the top target, at the beginning of 2024. Now, for 2025, they are targeting to reach 6.5 million international arrivals.
